December 2, 2017 get ready to walk and run along the Rideau Canal. We are back at Lansdowne Park in the Horticulture Building!

Encourage your friends, family, and run buddies of all ages to team up and get your fun Christmas costumes on and start raising pledges.

Pre-event Details:

Nov. 30 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and December 1st 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.: Pick up your race bib, t-shirt and drop off pledges at The Running Room 901 Bank Street store and check out the latest run gear.

December 2nd: The 1 km Elf will walk begins at Lansdowne Park and proceeds along the Rideau Canal at 10 am. The run begins at 10:30 am along the Rideau Canal to Crescent Street and back to the start line.

Activities on site: Join us on the patio at Jack Astor’s for a warm breakfast bowl, until quantities last. Other activities on site; Elf stretches with our mascots and fitness leaders, elf yourself makeup station and get your photos with Santa and your favourite superheroes. Plus there will be more exciting on site prizes, giveaways and fun on the day of the Santa Shuffle!

Take some tips from us and focus on $50:

- Invite your coworkers, friends and family to contribute to your teams fundraising page that you set up on line
- Change your voicemail and email signature to promote your fundraising efforts
- Host a dinner party and collect spare change for dessert
- Bake some goodies and ask for donations for your fundraising efforts

How $50 will make a difference at Bethany Hope Centre for young parents in Ottawa:

- 8 families will be provided with 4L of milk for a week
- 20 children will eat a hot meal provided by Bethany Hope Centre
- We will purchase 18 cans of concentrate liquid formula for an infant
- 200 diapers will be purchased and distributed
- 5 school aged children will get a week’s worth of homemade lunches to take home

How can my teammates fund raise online?

In order for individual team members to collect pledges online, they must have a member profile through the www.runningroom.com Athlete Dashboard. Once a profile is created, their email address will connect with the ‘pledge and athlete’ link. Please be sure to correctly enter your team mates email addresses.

 

I registered online, but people who are trying to sponsor me are unable to find me on the “search for an athlete” link.

You have asked that your name be ‘hidden’ from the public confirmation list. Please contact your local Run Director and they can ‘un-hide’ your name.

 

I registered at my local Running Room store, but I cannot see myself on the race confirmation list.

Walk-in registrations are collected by local Salvation Army staff on a weekly basis and entered manually online. The process can take up to two weeks before your registration appears online.

 

Are strollers allowed?

Yes, but for safety reasons, we ask that they stay towards the back of the group.

 

Can I bring my dog to this event?

While we don't actively encourage anyone to bring their dog to this event, and in some cases the park that hosts the event prohibits animals, any dogs that are running with their owners should be on a leash and are the full responsibility of the owner.

 

Is this race timed?

No, it is a fun run without any timing.

 

How do I get a Santa Shuffle T-shirt?

T-shirts are complimentary with a minimum of $50 in pledges. T-shirts can also be purchased for $15.

 

We have 12 people for our team, but I can only register 10.

10 is the maximum number for a team. You can split your group into two teams and compete against each other for fund-raising, or register the additional two people as individuals, but still run together.
 

Can some of our team participate in the 5K and some do the 1K?

Yes, just be sure to tell the folks at Race Package pick-up, so that you get the appropriate coloured race bib.
